The VDC, set up by BVA in response to Professor Lowe’s report and chaired by Professor Richard Bennett, brought together representatives from across the whole food supply chain for the first time: veterinary surgeons, regulators, government, producers, processors, retailers, promoters, the veterinary schools and the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. The VDC identified key areas to address and established three working groups to carry out detailed work focusing on: the role of the vet-led team, business models and food industry engagement.
